Get Relief From Back Pain

We are London's Most Trusted Back Pain Specialists

Validus Sports Injury Clinic caters for the needs of a wide variety of patients suffering from various musculoskeletal conditions including back pain.

Back pain can come in many different forms, but one of the most common we tend to see in the clinic is lower back pain, or more commonly titled “non specific lower back pain”.

There can be many causes of lower back pain from tension, soreness or stiff muscles, poor sustained postures, lifting techniques, to disc irritation, facet joint irritation and or sciatica. Lower back pain in most cases if not properly addressed can take a long time to resolve.

Posture, posture, posture

‘As we find a large proportion of lower back pain is mechanical we often find postural changes are key to addressing the long-term nature of your pain. Good posture is simply more than standing up straight and it is an important part of your long-term health.

Making sure that you hold your body the right way, whether you are moving or still, can prevent pain, injuries, and other health problems. Posture is how you hold your body both dynamically, when we walk, run or even bend down to pick something up, or statically, how we hold ourselves when you are not moving, sitting at our desk, standing, or even sleeping.

The key to good posture is to keep your spine in its optimal position, whilst maintain its three natural curves – at your neck, mid back, and low back. Proper or “correct” posture should maintain these curves, not increase them!

Your head should be above your shoulders, and the top of your shoulder should be over the hips! Muscle weakness, tight muscles and lifestyle can all have an impact on your posture, which can lead to back pain, so it’s so of utmost importance to ensure we all practice good posture to help reduce the risk of back pain developing.
